In its efforts to reach the top spot in the cloud services race, Google Cloud has inked deals with non-profit healthcare company Highmark Health and US-based luxury fashion company Tapestry. The two companies selected Google Cloud as their preferred cloud partner in a bid to modernize their IT infrastructure and increase efficiency.

The health insurance company plans to use Google’s services to power its Living Health model to deliver a personalized, coordinated, and technology-based experience for its patients. Pittsburgh-based Highmark Health has an infrastructure spanning 13 hospitals and more than 2,500 affiliated physicians. In a statement, Karen Hanlon, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Highmark Health, said, “in order to deliver on the promise of Living Health, we had to change our organization by breaking down old paradigms and barriers, leveraging resources across our enterprise and bringing a differentiated approach to health care, which includes the development of a powerful technology platform to turbo-charge the model.”
Talking about the Tapestry deal, the exact duration has not yet been disclosed, with the official statement defining the deal as “multi-year.” The deal comes under Tapestry’s acceleration program plan to further its goals for growth and profitability. Tapestry plans to migrate its SAP software environment to Google Cloud with Google Cloud Partner Lumen. Tapestry will leverage Google Cloud services for flexibility in its platform while also allowing room for future innovations. Ahead of the Christmas shopping spree, an e-commerce platform must ensure uptime and performance and Tapestry will use Google Cloud’ Network Intelligence Center to achieve the same. This center will allow Tapestry to rapidly resolve multiple issues such as connectivity problems and reduce troubleshooting time while improving the customers’ experience.
Ashish Parmar, Chief Information Officer at Tapestry, said, “Google Cloud has been a great partner, providing the power and elasticity for SAP S/4 HANA that our organization needed in order to achieve our goals of leveraging data and leading with a digital-first mindset. Google Cloud has been an accelerator for our new digital capabilities, and our migration – even during the restrictions of a global pandemic – highlighted the successful collaboration and teamwork amongst the organizations.”
