How AWS Made Advance Video Stream A Reality With Amazon Kinesis?

What is Amazon Kinesis Video Stream?

Amazon Kinesis makes it easy to securely stream video from AWS to a connected device for video stream analysis, machine learning (ML), Playback, and other processing. Kinesis automatically delivers video streams and scales all the infrastructure needed to consume streaming video data from millions of devices. It stores, encrypts and encodes video data in your stream; and allows you to access your data through an easy-to-use API. Guinness Video Stream enables live and on-demand video and quickly integrates with Amazon Reconciliation Video to create applications that enhance computer vision and video analytics; as well as a library for ML frameworks such as Apache MXNet, TensorFlow and OpenCV. Kinesis supports WebRTC, an open-source project that enables real-time media streaming and communication between devices connected via a video stream, web browsers; mobile applications, and simple APIs. Typical applications include video chat and peer-to-peer media streaming.

Benefits of Amazon Kinesis Video Streams

Stream video from millions of devices – Amazon Kinesis Video Streams provides SDKs that make it easy to securely stream devices to AWS for Playback, storage, analysis, machine learning, and other processing. Kinesis Video Streams can consume data from edge devices, smartphones, security cameras, and other data sources such as RADARs, LIDARs, drones, satellites, dash cams, and depth-sensors.

Create real-time viewing and video-enabled applications – Easily build applications with real-time computer vision capabilities by integrating with Amazon Recognition Video, and with real-time video analytics capabilities using the popular Open Source Machine Learning Framework.

Live Playback and recorded video streams – Kinesis Video Streams, Easily stream live and recorded media to your browser or mobile app using the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) capability.

Build applications with two-way, real-time media streaming – Amazon Kinesis Video Streams supports WebRTC, an open-source project for bidirectional, real-time media streaming between web browsers, mobile apps, and connected devices. With support for WebRTC, you can use simple APIs to create rich applications such as video chat and peer-to-peer data sharing with video chat and two-way communication between your applications and connected devices.

Secure – Amazon Kinesis Video Streams allows you to control access to your streams using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM). It helps you secure your data by automatically encrypting the remaining data using the AWS Key Management Service (KMS) and using the industry-standard Traffic Layer Security (TLS) protocol.

Durable, searchable storage – Amazon Kinesis Video Streams use Amazon S3 as a primary data store, meaning your data is durable and trusted. Kinesis Video Streams help you to quickly search and retrieve video fragments based on device and service generated timestamps.

There is no infrastructure to manage – Amazon Kinesis Video Streams manage all the infrastructure for you. You do not have to worry about configuration, software updates, failures, or scaling up infrastructure as the number of streams, and the number of applications consumed increases. Kinesis Video Streams handles all the management and maintenance needed to manage your streams, so you can focus your time on creating innovative apps.

Pay per use – With Amazon Kinesis Video Streams, you only pay for the amount of data you ingest, store, and consume. There are no upfront costs or minimum fees, and you don’t have to worry about paying for inactive video streams.

Use Cases –

Smart Home

With Amazon Kinesis Video Streams, one can easily stream live video and audio from camera-equipped home devices such as doorbells, baby monitors, webcams and home monitoring systems. You can use streams to create a variety of smart home applications, ranging from simple video playback to intelligent lights, climate control systems and security monitoring. You can use WebRTC capabilities for two-way, real-time media streaming and communication, such as talking to a person on your doorstep or remotely controlling the camera-enabled robot vacuum from your mobile phone. Example: Contact the camera-enabled doorbell on your mobile phone.

Smart City

Many cities have installed a large number of cameras in traffic lights, parking lots, shopping malls and every public place, capturing video 24/7. Amazon Kinesis Video Streams can be used to safely, inexpensively store, ingest, and analyze this massive amount of video data to solve traffic problems, prevent crime, send emergency responders, and more. Example: Amber Alert System

Industrial Automation

Amazon Kinesis video streams can be used to collect various time-coded data, such as radar and lidar signals, temperature profiles, and in-depth data from industrial devices. You can analyze data using your favourite machine learning framework, including Apache MXNet, TensorFlow, and OpenCV for industrial automation application cases such as Predictive Maintenance. For example, you can predict the lifetime of a gasket or valve and plan for a partial replacement, reducing downtime and downtime in the production line. Example: equipment preventive maintenance
